On Monday 26 September, Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate provided a beautiful backdrop for the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards. The ever-popular awards were even more special this year as the magazine celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Attended by over 150 guests the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards showcased the hard work of local chefs, food suppliers and restaurants. The judges (all experts in their own areas of food, drink and hospitality and with a passion for entertaining) had a difficult time reaching their decisions. But after months of deliberations in the search for top quality they found contenders worthy of recognition for their talent, innovation and commitment to their customers.
Guests were treated to an outstanding lunch at Rudding Park which exemplified excellent fine dining and superb service.
Yorkshire Life Editor, Esther Leach said “Our food and drink awards celebrations take on special meaning this year as Yorkshire Life marks its 70th anniversary. Few magazines can say they have been serving their readers for such a long time and we are always grateful for their unstinting loyalty. In return I hope we can inform, entertain and inspire with events such as our food and drink awards.
“There are some very determined people out there who are working tirelessly to maintain Yorkshire’s reputation for the fine food and drink and hospitality. We want to champion their efforts and celebrate their successes with these awards that also acknowledge their steely resolve.
“It was a celebratory lunch full of goodwill and shared achievement, perhaps one of the very best yet.”
The generosity of the guests meant that the event raised a total of £1,051 which will be donated to the awards’ chosen charity, the lifesaving Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
