Archant’s Company Secretarial team, based in Norwich, has been reshaped following the decision by company secretary John Ellison to stand down from the role and take up a part-time role with the company.
John has been with Archant for 33 years, 18 of them as company secretary, and, as part of adjusting his work life balance, moved to a three-day-a-week group projects’ director role from 1 May. John will report directly to chief executive Adrian Jeakings, and will remain a member of the Archant Executive Team.
Assistant company secretary Tara Cross, who has been with Archant since September 2008, has been promoted to the position of deputy company secretary and will take on responsibility for a wider range of the company secretarial duties. These include statutory compliance matters, group board administration and governance, overseeing intellectual property, dealing with shareholder matters and offering ad hoc advice on contracts and other legal issues.
Also in the company secretarial team is Archant pensions manager Ann Crane and PA Janet Hill. All will now report to group finance director Brian McCarthy.
Archant chief executive, Adrian Jeakings, said: “John has been a stalwart of Archant for the past 33 years, supporting the board and the company in a wide range of roles and activities. The company has changed beyond recognition over that period and John has played a key role in that transformation.
“We will miss his guiding presence at board meetings, but I am pleased that we will still to be able to draw on his experience taking on various projects as well as remaining part of the Archant executive team.”
Brian McCarthy said: “I am delighted to assume responsibility for the company secretarial team, and offer particular congratulations to Tara on her promotion to deputy company secretary. She, Ann and Janet will continue to provide first class service across the business and as a team we aim to provide a seamless transition in legal, compliance, pensions, board and shareholder matters.”
