One Archant approach is key to development of new Top 100 app

Businesses and organisations looking to take the pulse of the local economy in Norfolk and Suffolk can now do so thanks to a pioneering new app developed by a partnership of Archant teams.

In a real-life example of the new One Archant approach, business publishing editor Shaun Lowthorpe and partnerships manager Gary Attfield led a project team featuring digital editor Cat Evans, Archant Dialogue’s app developer Richard Berry and video editor James Hustler, as well as input from Archant’s editorial design team lead by Le-Anne Reeves, graphic journalist Annette Hudson, EDP business editor Ben Woods, and EADT business editor Duncan Brodie.

The interactive ‘Top 100’ iPad app, which profiles the performance of the leading 100 businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk with sales of more than £37 million, builds on the successful B2B project developed by Archant’s daily newspaper titles the Eastern Daily Press and East Anglian Daily Times in partnership with sponsors Mills & Reeve, PwC, and Roche Chartered Surveyors. There is also an iPhone version of the app

The Top 100 comprises in-print features and also a strong web element but, keen to extend the scope of the project, the partners turned to the team at Archant Dialogue to develop an app version of the listing.

Users can also explore the listing in more depth through additional click-through links to Linkedin, Twitter and Google maps, augmenting the engaging ways to view the content.

An android version is also now in development and the project team is now working with Archant’s marketing team led by Tim Youngman to develop a campaign to promote the app across the business community in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Shaun Lowthorpe, business and publishing editor at Archant, said: “The Top 100 is one of our flagship B2B products, which is also incredibly popular among the business community in Norfolk and Suffolk.

“We noticed that there was a demand from users and our partners to develop a fully digital version, and we turned to the Dialogue team to help us realise our app ambitions.

“We’re delighted with the app – the design looks fantastic, and it really does bring the Top 100 to your fingertips, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve.”

Richard Berry, senior designer at Archant Dialogue, said: “We are always looking for ways to deliver content to users across multi-channel platforms. By creating the Top 100 app, users are now able to interact with companies across a variety of social platforms, all with a simple tap.”
