Culinary excellence celebrated in style at the ‘new-look’ Suffolk Food and Drink Awards

Posted on

On Monday 24 April, Wherstead Park in Ipswich provided a beautiful backdrop for the Suffolk Food and Drink Awards. Over 190 guests gathered together to celebrate the best of food and drink in the county in 2017 – and also look forward to an exciting food and drink future.

At Suffolk’s first black tie evening event the menu was designed to impress. A starter of Bury black pudding bubble and squeak was followed by rolled Dingley Dell pork belly with a white chocolate tart to finish.

Editor of Suffolk Magazine, Jane Lindill said: “This was Suffolk’s first black tie evening event for the food and drink awards, and there was a real sense of occasion and excitement. The Archant events team did a brilliant job in making the room look very glamorous and everyone commented on the very high standard of the food.

“Although it was a more formal occasion than we’re used to, it still had all the warmth and friendliness that our lunch time food and drink awards events were known for. I know from talking to local foodies that they really look forward to it as an opportunity to catch up with colleagues, celebrate their industry, and recognise some outstanding achievements.”

As well as being treated to a fantastic three course dinner at Wherstead Park, guests were also given a sneak peek at the new “Eat Suffolk Food and Drink Awards” branding which will be rolled out across all of the awards from next year.

The “Eat” brand, which has already been successfully implemented in Norfolk and Suffolk with weekly editorial platforms, will now gradually be employed across the group. This consistent approach to food and drink coverage across newspapers, magazines and events enables Archant to build an even stronger position in the market and demonstrates our commitment to the local food and drink industry.

The Suffolk Food and Drink Awards recognised excellence in categories such as; Best Tea/ Coffee Shop, Chef of the Year and Pub of the Year. The full list of well-deserving winners can be viewed here.
