Archant was proud to attend the Suffolk Skills Show in Ipswich earlier this month to engage with hundreds of students.
The annual community event, supported by over 100 national and local businesses, sees high school students gain an understanding of the world of work, with career opportunities in catering to chemistry, architecture to agriculture.
The Archant team invited students to become digital reporters, photographers and web designers with hands-on demonstrations led by reporters Matt Stott and Megan Aldous, and Trade Marketing Designer Scott Brown.
In addition, students also got the chance to show off their video skills, reading bulletins to camera in front of their class (which prompted every student reaching for their smartphone to record their mates for social media!).
Our HR team Kaye Nichols, Jane Berry and careers advisor James Broughton were also on hand to help students prepare for interview and help them understand the various career paths our industry can provide.
Trade Marketing Director Tom Kay explains, ‘This event provides a platform to demonstrate the creativity of our industry and showcase all the channels in which we operate. It was great to see the students engage with our digital journalists and get a real flavour of what today’s Archant stands for.’
