Do you care about what goes on around you and wish your community had a louder voice? Do you want to make a difference? The Community News Project needs you!
A partnership between Facebook, local news publishers and the National Council for the Training of Journalists has enabled us to offer this fantastic opportunity.
Here at Archant Suffolk, the home of the EADT, we are looking to hire a Community Reporter on a two-year fixed-term contract. We want applications from people who care about the community of Woodbridge and want to make a difference and be a voice for that community.
Previous journalism experience or education is not essential but you will have a passion/natural aptitude in this area. We’re especially keen to hear from people who believe they can help make our newsrooms more representative of these communities.
As a Community Reporter, your main role will be to engage with people in Woodbridge and to curate, collate and create content relevant to them. You will take responsibility for developing relationships and generating stories which re-engage this community with Archant and its various print and digital publications as well as Facebook and other social media sources.
You will be publishing packages of content to a high standard, writing headlines and uploading words, pictures, video and audio that you have sourced. Providing insight to the wider newsroom about the issues and concerns of specific communities will be an important part of the role.
You will receive industry-leading digital journalism training which you will then share into your newsrooms, as well as the gold-standard NCTJ journalism training to become a fully trained journalist.
