Archant London’s website London24.com will go head-to-head with the likes of the Huffington Post and the BBC after being nominated for a prestigious British Media Award.
The small but dynamic editorial team behind the website has been shortlisted for the Media Editorial Team of the Year award.
The British Media Awards highlight and reward media companies and teams which have taken an innovative approach to publishing.
Editor Sarah Shaffi and Sports Editor James Cunliffe have played a pivotal role in the development of London24.com, helping it to become the second most visited news website in London.
Laura Adams, Archant London’s Digital Editorial Director, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for these national awards, especially since we will be up against such media luminaries as the Huffington Post and the BBC.
“It is an exciting time for London24.com and we have significant editorial development plans in place so it is fitting that the team which works tirelessly behind the scenes has been recognised.
“It is thoroughly deserved and a testament to their hard work.”
Sarah said: “Being shortlisted is a real tribute to the hard work of everyone involved with London24. It’s exciting to be named alongside media giants like the BBC, and this is just the start of London24’s journey.”
James added: “This is a magnificent achievement and highlights the great talent and dedication of the London24 sports team in breaking the big stories from some of the most recognised clubs and stars in the world, while continuing to punch above our weight against some well established media names.”
London24.com was launched more than two years ago and provides useful, engaging and authoritative news, sport and entertainment for people who live and work in the diverse capital city.
