On Thursday 5 November, the region’s best businesses were celebrated at the EDP Business Awards. This was a special day, not only for the businesses receiving awards, but also for Archant as it marked the 25th anniversary of the prestigious awards ceremony.
The black-tie event was held at the Norfolk Showground Arena and received the highest attendance of any EDP Business Awards to date with just under 500 attendees. Explorer and writer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, delivered the keynote speech in which he offered a comparison between his experiences performing under extreme pressure and achieving greatness in the business world. His speech was inspiring, entertaining and added extra gravitas to the evening’s proceedings.
Not only did the event receive the highest attendance to date, but also the highest number of entries. Editor of the Eastern Daily Press, Nigel Pickover, said “It gives me great pride to tell you here this evening that we had nearly 300 entries - a true indicator of the exceptional companies we have in East Anglia.” He added, “Year after year the EDP Business Awards has stepped forward and celebrated the region’s wealth creators. And this year is particularly special as we mark the 25th anniversary of the Business Awards.”
The Business of the Year Award was presented to Richardson’s Leisure, a boat hire company based in Stalham. Other awards included Food and Farming Excellence Award, presented to Easton and Otley College and Best Employer Award, presented to Naked Wines.
The success of the evening was a tribute to the months of planning and hard work by the Events Team based in Norwich. Thanks also need to be given to all the judges who had the extremely difficult job picking just 16 winners from the hundreds of entries.
