Last week’s French Travel Media Awards saw Archant's France Magazine being nominated in four categories and the team going home with one of the most prestigious prizes.
Rudolf Abraham’s ‘Designs on Dinosaurs’ won Best Cultural Feature at the ceremony, held at OXO2 in London on Wednesday 1st March.
A total of eight awards were given out covering categories including City Breaks, Sport & Activity, Wine & Gastronomy and Social Media.
A shortlist of between four and six features were selected for each category before being posted on the france.fr Facebook page, where its 102,000 UK fans were invited to read the entries and then vote for their favourite.
The evening was compered by comedian Sean Collins and saw more than 70 print and online journalists in attendance.
France Magazine’s winning feature, about the uncovering of prehistoric remains in Charente and their documentation in a comic-strip style book, appeared in their October 2016 issue.
It beat entries from The Times, Voyage Magazine and The Telegraph, as well as another nomination for France Magazine.
Rudolf Abraham, a freelance writer for France Magazine, said 'Winning this award was fantastic news – it was a piece I really enjoyed creating, involving several days spent with old friends out in the sun and digging for dinosaurs."
Other winners on the night included The Independent Online, Lonely Planet Traveller, France Today Magazine and the Sunday Times Travel Magazine.
