Archant reaches a record low for CO2 emissions

Posted on

Archant’s drive to reduce its corporate carbon footprint, and be seen as class-leading for its environmental impact, has resulted in the average CO2 emissions across the fleet of company vehicles dropping to just 99.6g/km.

The company had launched a number of initiatives in a bid to build on its green credentials – including a scheme for company car holders which incentivised them to select low carbon-emitting vehicles in return for the payment of a ‘green bonus’. Between 25-30% of eligible employees have taken part in this scheme, helping to contribute to the reduction in CO2 emissions across the fleet.

To ensure this outstanding green track record continues, Archant has appointed leading fleet management and leasing specialist Fleet Alliance to help advise upon sustainability issues and improve driver support across its fleet of more than 330 company cars.

As part of the new contract, Fleet Alliance are planning a number of new environmental moves - including the proposed introduction of petrol-electric and diesel-electric hybrids, and pure electric vehicle options for the fleet. The Glasgow-based fleet management specialists will also look to reduce acquisition costs by competitively tendering all new vehicles to be added to the fleet through a panel of preferred leasing suppliers to select the most competitive leasing rates.

Greg Parton, Group Head of Procurement and Sustainability at Archant, said: “Through appointing Fleet Alliance, we are looking to build on the excellent green record we have achieved across our fleet over recent years, as well as reducing costs in key areas of our fleet operations.”

Fleet Alliance Managing Director, Martin Brown, commented:” We are thrilled to welcome Archant as our newest client to an expanding customer base, and look forward to delivering the award-winning customer service levels for which we have become renowned. “
