Archant political editor represents UK in US Presidential Election reporting tour

Posted on

Archant’s Group Political Editor, Annabelle Dickson, was recently asked to take part in a US state department Foreign Press Centre reporting tour – covering this week’s American presidential election.

Annabelle, who was nominated by the U.S. Embassy in London to take part in the tour, was the only UK journalist out of a group of 25 reporters from across the world – including journalists from Zimbabwe to South Africa, Australia, Peru, Eastern Europe and many more.

The tour started in the swing state of Ohio last week where Annabelle reported on a Donald Trump election rally – before moving to New York ready for election night on Tuesday 8 November.

“It has been a particularly interesting year for politics - a surprise EU referendum result, a new prime minister and I have been lucky enough to be on the spot reporting on a US election which will no doubt be studied by political scientists for many years to come” said Annabelle.

“It has been fascinating trip. I have met plenty of US voters, found out more about how US politics works - but I have also enjoyed travelling with journalists from around the world, hearing about their perspective on what is going on in their own countries.”
