Archant Life has announced the appointment of two new senior group editors to take responsibility for its county magazines in the South West and South regions.
Andy Cooper (pictured above) is appointed as Group Editor South West, taking on managerial responsibility for Devon Life and Somerset Life. Deborah Collcutt is the new Group Editor South with effect from January 4, taking responsibility for Dorset magazine, Hampshire Life, Sussex Life, Surrey Life, Compass and Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Life.
The moves were announced by Archant Life managing director Tim Thurston, who said: “Andy, who joined us in May in a Senior Editor role, will continue to also perform the role of Acting Editor, Cornwall Life, covering for Jennie Cooper, who is on maternity leave. He has extensive editorial and management experience in regional media, having previously been Editor-in-Chief of Cornwall and Devon Media Ltd for seven years with Northcliffe.
“Andy’s appointment takes effect immediately and he will be based in the Totnes office on a full-time basis. One of his first tasks is to appoint an editor for Somerset Life.”
Andy first joined Northcliffe in 1995 as editor of the Brentwood Gazette, and edited the North Devon Journal on two separate occasions during his career.
He first moved to the Journal as editor in 1997 before becoming editor-in-chief of CDM which includes The Cornishman, the West Briton and the Cornish Guardian in 2005. He then returned to Barnstaple to edit the Journal in 2009, while retaining the role of editor-in-chief.
Tim said: “Deborah has extensive print - both newspaper and magazine - and broadcast media experience including working for the Evening Standard and most recently covering the Olympics for TV.
“Until Deborah starts with the company Andy will continue to retain editorial managerial responsibility for Dorset magazine, Hampshire Life and Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Life.”
