The English Home

Glossy magazine, The English Home, from Archant Specialist has recently been named as Archant’s own publication of the year.

Judges said of the title: “It is a remarkable turnaround by a new team, with outstanding financial results, and creating a beautiful magazine along the way.”

The English Home is published from Archant Specialist’s Cheltenham head office and the editorial team comprises Samantha Scott-Jeffries, Ruth Sargison, Sarah Kent, Laurence McJannet, Katy Green and editor Kerry Harper-Cuss.

The title, whose latest ABC is 61,355, was described as winning a battle in a very difficult sector which is down massively in consumer copy sales, ad revenues and confidence in the editorial offering.

The English Home has seen a new team put together a title that is head and shoulders above the competition, is improving its editorial offering when all around are going backwards, is growing sales and frequency when all others are cutting back and it is doing so on less investment than it had previously.

Editor Kerryn Harper-Cuss, says: “Having worked within interiors magazines for nearly 14 years, I can say hand on heart that The English Home has the most distinctive character of any title I have worked upon.

“Launched in 2000, to a now incredibly loyal global audience, its consistent aim and passion has been to celebrate the essence of English style in all its eclectic glory. Today, alongside our showcase of the most gloriously classic and elegant English homes (both town and country), we also celebrate quintessential traditions, beautiful localities and champion seasonal national produce to offer an indulgent, evocative picture-led read.

“My professional aim has always been to demonstrate that interiors journalism need not be fluffy. That alongside stunning photography and an unashamedly romantic life view, it is possible to offer detailed, authoritative interiors advice. And so our well connected staff seek out experts in their fields, commission the most knowledgeable contributors, profile the most important names in the interiors industry and champion the most inspirational artisans and companies in English design to be truly a part of the industry that supports us in return.
