New MD for Archant Specialist
Archant Specialist has appointed experienced magazine publisher Dr Farine Clarke as its new managing director.
Farine (40), joins Archant’s consumer magazine division Archant Specialist which publishes 13 monthly or quarterly titles as well as a number of annual publications.
She was formerly managing director of Haymarket Medical Publishing.
Archant Specialist’s titles include a strong photographic and imaging portfolio such as Photography Monthly, Which Camera?, Professional Photographer and Total Digital Photography, as well as leading leisure titles such as Pilot and Sport Diver.
Archant chief executive John Fry said: “I am delighted that Farine will be joining us. She brings a wealth of experience with her to our growing consumer magazine business.”
Farine said: “I am thrilled to be joining Archant and working with the Specialist team. I had a brief tour of the offices before Christmas and was struck by the buzz and enthusiasm that I saw there.
“It's clear from the magazines that the teams not only have an impressive depth of knowledge, but also a shared passion for their titles. I'm very much looking forward to being involved with such an exciting and growing part of the company.”
A fully qualified General Practitioner, Farine has worked for Haymarket Medical for the last eight years progressing from editorial director to publishing director and then MD where she was responsible for the medical magazine and medical contract publishing division.
Farine is no stranger to the media limelight as she was the Sky News doctor for three years and has also hosted a live medical TV programme and appeared on BBC TV and radio. She starts at Specialist on February 17.
